Music & Dancing Abounds at CVUUS!

Music continues to hum at CVUUS! We hosted another open mic night with varied performances and over 50 folks in the Sanctuary. The Music Ministry Team hopes to squeeze in another one later this spring!

Vespers services will continue throughout the spring led by Rev. Chrristina, with one coming up soon on April 11th and another in early May.  For the April Vespers, it will be a service of contemplative Taize prayer, featuring singers from our own CVUUS choir and from all over town.

This month, we are trying a new Noontime Concert Series each Wed (except April 17th) at 12 pm in the Sanctuary. There will be varied styles and performers. Come take your lunch break by enjoying some live music!

There will be another gender-neutral contra dance in the Sanctuary on Friday, May 10 at 7pm. The last one had a wonderful band and great turnout. Come see what it’s all about!

As always, our choir is thriving and accepting new singers. Want to perform at CVUUS sometime? We always have room for more instrumentalists, vocalists, and choir members to add music to our services and beyond. Email music@cvuus.org) for more info.

The Middlebury College Community Chorus also continues to rehearse biweekly at CVUUS. It’s simply the best rehearsal space in town! Email rromano@middlebury.edu for more info on singing with chorus. This spring, we are preparing the Faure Requiem which will be performed at Middlebury College on Mother’s Day May 10 at 5 pm. Rehearsals on Sunday and Wednesday nights, 7 – 8:30 pm.

Opera Company of Middlebury returns with a Youth Concert on Sat. April 13 at 2 pm and Meet the Singers (of their adult spring opera) on Sat. May 18 at 5 pm.

Drumming Abounds! West African Dance Class with live drumming migrated to the college’s Wilson Hall for a free 6-week series before returning to us on Mondays at 5 pm sometime after spring semester ends while Korean Drumming Class occurred a few times and also moved over to the college for the rest of spring. We’ll be housing three timpani drums for Town Hall Theater while they undergo construction later in June.

World Music Day (Thurs June 21, 2024) Drop in to sing and play along from 4-7 pm in our sanctuary, celebrating the joy of music each first day of summer with others around the world, led by the Community Bridges Program of CSAC (Counseling Service of Addison County).

CVUUS continues to be a home for community music making of all kinds, featuring folks from Addison County and beyond. We strive to promote and support the arts by providing a communal space for art to be made together. Please reach out to us if you are interested in hosting your community arts-focused event with us.
